Making a big life change also often means changing the small rhythms of our days. In so doing, I've missed at least one Monday sharing in this space.

I'm still awaiting the arrival of my Beloved and the remainder of our possessions.

I'm still enjoying the challenge of this new work.

Poetry still offers grace and beauty into each day.

Here's a word from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882) about the gift of poetry:

Come, read to me some poem,

Some simple and heartfelt lay,

That shall soothe this restless feeling,

And banish the thoughts of day...

Read from some humbler poet,

Whose songs gushed from the heart,

As showers from the clouds of summer,

Or tears from the eyelids start;

Who, through long days of labor,

And nights devoid of ease,

Still heard in his soul the music

Of wonderful melodies.

Such songs have power to quiet

The restless pulse of care,

And come like the benediction

That follows after prayer.
