Merry Christmas! This year in the United States holiday travel was upended by multiple winter weather events and the cascading snafus that followed. For our family, this meant that we were unexpectedly stranded in Los Angeles with our daughter instead of being with our whole family in Gig Harbor, WA. I was deeply disappointed, and yet, we are all safe, healthy, and had power in our respective places. In our case, it was an 80 degree Christmas Day, which honestly, isn't terrible.

I hope that wherever you celebrated and are celebrating the Twelve Days of Christmas, that you are also safe and healthy and that your heart and spirit are peaceful. Today would have been my mother in love's 94th birthday; she died in June and we will remember her with love. She could always see the good in a person or situation and we know that is a rare and tender mercy in this life.

In the UK, today is Boxing Day and it is also the feast day of St. Stephen. And on this second day of Christmas, as the song goes, the gift was two turtle doves. For your second day of Christmas and every day, know that you are the gift, dear one, to this world and I am grateful for you.
