Fifty Days of Gratitude: Day Six

Yesterday I reminded us/myself that it is our responsibility as citizens to be engaged in our civic life, even when it is difficult. I also noted that sometimes we might need to take a literal news-break, a break from the news.
When my Beloved and I need a time out from the intense and incredulous nature of the headlines these days/years, we often turn to cooking shows for a break. We are fans of Ina Garten and Molly Yee, as well as others. Today I discovered that there's an Ina Garten cooking club - women much younger than Ina, dress like her and whip up her recipes and get together for what I can only imagine is a wonderful evening.
I don't know what you might need to do for a time out, but I hope you'll make a mental list of what that could look like. When your body, mind, or spirit feel tense or hopeless or frustrated, pull one of those activities out and take a break. For today, I'm thankful for Ina and Molly and others who invite us into their kitchens and remind us that good things happen when we sit together for a meal.
