Fifty Days of Gratitude: Day Eleven

Re-entry after a vacation is always....interesting. I'm so lucky to do work that I love, with amazing people, in a place that is filled with life and hope. And. And this week contains a stretch of three 12-hour days in a row. I know that's not the norm and it's not every week or even every month, but here we are, diving in after lazy mornings drinking coffee with our beloveds and playing at the pool with the grandgirl and sitting around the fire pit laughing and telling stories.

Today my mind feels like it's scattered in 50 different directions and as I texted to a friend, I'm looking for some holiness in there, somewhere.

My gratitude for this night is for the unwavering consistency of my Beloved. For eating dinner without me or with me, but at the Church; for packing my lunch with snacks and a note; for killing the ginormous spider in the bedroom tonight; for having dessert ready when I finally got home after this long day. For never complaining, not even once (really, not once) that this work can be all encompassing at times. I am not making widgets.

We've been married for almost 17 years and I am still surprised by the way he is there for me....with a snack or a glass of limoncello or a cup of tea or an encouraging word or a shoe and a step stool with which to keep the killer spider from leaping on me when I'm not looking. Oh, my heart is glad he exists in the world.
