50 Days of Gratitude: Day 14

There is a theological understanding of humanity as co-creators with God. Together with God we create life. Human life through the birth of babies (more about that in the days to come) and life on this planet as we care for the earth.

I wonder, if this was a more widely held understanding – that caring for Creation wasn’t just some “woke” idea but truly a way that we participate with God in the re-generation of the earth – I wonder if we might all, well, try a little harder?

It’s Earth Day and for a people who understand life to have begun in a garden, this also seems a day worthy of a certain sacredness.

Today, I’m grateful for this good creation. For earth and seas and skies and the ways they hold all life within them.

For the beauty of the earth, for the beauty of the skies.

For the love which from our birth, over and around us lies.
